Stamp Collecting: Ceylon / Sri Lanka
An island to the south of India, formerly under British administration then a self-governing Dominion. The first stamps were issued in 1857.
Ceylon became a republic within the Commonwealth in May 1972 and the name of the country was changed to Sri Lanka.
