Stamp Collecting: Benin

Benin was a French possession on the West coast of Africa, for which stamps were issued between 1892 and 1894. It was incorporated in 1899 into the French colony of Dahomey, which became an independent republic in 1960.

The Republic of Dahomey was renamed the People's Republic of Benin in 1975.
