175 vintage postcards have been organized and published online to create an interactive visual database and user friendly
web site for these postcards.
The original impulse was to collect view postcards of Ossining in Westchester County, north of New York City.
But the collection expanded to contain cards, photographs, stereoviews, magic lantern slides, and pamphlets.
And the views are not just of Ossining but now also Maryknoll and Briarcliff Manor (Scarborough),
selected views of neighboring communities, the commuter's view of the world along
the Hudson to Grand Central Terminal, Grand Central itself and other locations in New York City.
The many postcard images displayed here are a small fraction of the Postcard Collection held by the
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Archives and Special Collections Department.
A substantial collection of old postcards of Union College, Schenectady. Almost all of the
cards you will see here were printed (and many were mailed) in the years 1900-1915.
